Not too long ago, I shared my secret tip to save money on every single purchase you make when shopping for back to school. I still say that is the best way to save money, but sometimes, there are a few other things you can do to find some great online deals.
You all know about signing up for email alerts and following sites, such as this one. But, that isn’t a guarantee that you will always find the absolute lowest price and help you stay on track with your back to school budget. For that, you need more help.
Enter – Wikibuy.
I’ve partnered with this on-line service to help you find the lowest price on everything you need for your student for back to school.
WHAT IS WIKIBUY?
If you have not heard of Wikibuy it is a Chrome plugin you add to your browser. Then, when you shop online, at stores – such as Amazon, for example – it does a scan online for the same item sold by other retailers. If it finds a lower price, it alerts you!
That way, you don’t ever pay more than you need to. And, when it comes to back to school shopping, we all can use all the help we can to keep those costs as low as possible!
WHAT DOES IT COST TO USE THIS TOOL?
That’s the best part of all. The extension costs you nothing. Zero. Zilch. Nada. And, then when you use the app to make a purchase for the lower priced item, you STILL pay nothing more than the cost of the product.
Wikibuy charges customers absolutely NOTHING to use their app. They are passionate about saving money and want to make it easy on you.
WHICH RETAILERS DOES IT REVIEW?
When I am shopping online, I stick with retailers I know and trust. Those are the only deals I share with you because I know you want to know your information is safe. You, like me, want to know that you will get the product you want from this on-line retailer.
Wikibuy agrees. They make comparison shopping a one-click effort from a vetted list of thousands of e-commerce sellers, including major retailers, brands, and other small retailers.
DOES PENNY PINCHIN’ MOM REALLY USE THIS?
Absolutely! This year, I created my kids’ must have school list. When you click on any item, you will see they have scanned other retailers searching for the lowest possible price.
Here is just one example. The pencils my kids need for school are Ticonderoga. And, since I’ve got 3 of them, I purchase a larger quantity. It could take me a lot of time to try to find a good deal. But, with Wikibuy, they do the work for me.
As of the time of this post, you can see that Ebay offers the lowest price on the pencils. (Since this is always updated in real time, the totals you see may differ from what you see in this image).
In this case, the difference is $0.28. But, you know what?!? That is MY $0.28!!!
Like I said above, I’ve put together my own back to school list complete with the binder, backpack and some of the other supplies I know my kids will need (as I wait for the finalized list to be sent out).
In addition to using my list, it works when you are shopping online. Too! Here’s how that works:
When you are shopping, and click on a product, check the “W” icon in your browser bar. If it finds the item elsewhere, it lets you know! Click over to buy directly from the link they show you.
There are a lot of different tools you can use to save when you shop online. You should give Wikibuy a try when picking up all of your back to school items! You’ll love the ease — and especially the savings!!!
