You actually can save money when traveling with kids. You just need to try some of these simple ideas!
Are taking vacations as a family a thing of the past? They don’t have to be. However, when you add up the cost of fuel, tickets, food, hotels and more – it can be expensive!
Are there ways to save money traveling with kids? Of course! You just need to keep some things in mind.
Free breakfast. When you book a hotel, try to find those which offer free breakfast. Have the kids full up their tummies before you head out and you can make it until lunchtime.
Crockpot meals. Who says you have to dine out when traveling? Travel with your crockpot and a cooler of food. Toss your meal into the crockpot before you head out in the morning. When you get back to your room later that day, dinner will be waiting for you.
Travel at night. If possible, travel while the kids are asleep. They won’t ask for snacks or drinks. The added bonus is a nice quite trip free from “Are we there yet?” and “She/He keeps touching me!”
Free Venues. Not all attractions cost money. Ask other parents from the community about free events. You can also visit the tourism page for the location you plan to visit.
Plan ahead. If you plan your trip in advance, you might score additional discounts. Spur of the moment road trips can result in a bit more spending.
Check out Airbnb or rent a condo. Forget the hotel. Find a condo or house you can rent. You will have more space and a full size kitchen where you can cook your meals (which always saves you money).
Pack your snacks. Take a cooler with you that is filled with snacks and drinks. All of those convenient store stops can put the hurt on your wallet.
Find promos. When you know where you are visiting, search for coupons or discounts on dining and entertainment. Many time the tourism page for the city will have links for you.
