If you want to save money on your cell phone bill, the answer might be as simple as changing carriers. The Republic Wireless reviews pretty much explain why this is a better option for anyone on a budget.
We use our cell phones for more than making and receiving calls. We use them to text, keep track of our schedules, play games, track our health — and so much more. That means living without a cell phone is not an option for many people.
WHO IS REPUBLIC WIRELESS?
Republic Wireless entered the cell phone arena in late 2011. The company aims to provide its customers with the ability to text, call, use data and have wifi access – all at affordable rates.
REPUBLIC WIRELESS PLANS
What sets Republic apart is its affordable rates. They are an excellent option for parents who have younger children that need a cell phone – but don’t want to pay an arm and a leg for service.
What makes Republic Wireless plans even more incredible is that you don’t get locked into a contract. They give you the flexibility you need at a price you can afford.
How affordable is it?
How does $15 a month + $5 per GB sound to you? A pretty great rate isn’t it?
(Note that you will still have to pay taxes and fees, but that still keeps the plan around $20 -$21/month).

CAN YOU USE ANY PHONE THROUGH REPUBLIC WIRELESS?
Unfortunately, you can’t. At this time, they cannot work with iPhones. However, if you have an Android phone or are ready to make the switch away from your Apple device, then it could be a great move.
Here is the current list of phones you can purchase through Republic:
Alcatel A30 – $99
LG K30 – $99 (reg price of $149)
Moto E5 Play – $129
Samsung Galaxy J3 – $169
Moto G6 Play – $199
Moto G6 – $249
Moto G7 – $299
Moto X4 – $349
Samsung Galaxy S8 – $499 (reg price of $699)
Samsung Galaxy S9 – $599 (reg price of $719
CAN YOU BRING YOUR OWN PHONE?
As long as it is compatible, you can bring your own Android phone to Republic Wireless. They will send you a SIM card, along with instructions so that you can move your service from your current provider to them. It is very simple to do.
Visit their phone compatibility checker to ensure your phone will work with their service. If not, it may be worth an upgrade to a new one to save on your phone bill every month.
WHAT IS THE CATCH?
I know that it does sound too good to be true. But it isn’t. Republic Wireless can offer these discounts on service.
When possible, Republic Wireless uses WiFi rather than cell networks. When they can tap into these free wireless networks rather than cells, it costs less money. They, in turn, pass these savings along to their consumers.
If you have WiFi in your home, the store, the office – you will have that connection.
ANY NEGATIVES?
One issue I’ve seen is that there is not a number you can call for customer service. Annoying, I know. But you can submit a support ticket, and they will get back with you rather promptly.
The other downfall is that you can’t take your iPhone to them. Apple just does not work with Republic, so they don’t have access to grant coverage on those devices.
WHAT IF I MOVE AND HATE IT?
The great thing is that they offer a 14-day money back guarantee. If you move your service or try them out and just do not find it meets your needs, you can cancel – no questions asked. They have these details laid out on their site, so make sure you follow them so you can receive a refund if needed.
OTHER COMMON QUESTIONS
You can review their entire FAQs section, but here are some common questions you may have.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I USE ALL OF MY DATA?
You will get 1 GB for $5 a month. If you happen to hit that limit, the phone will no longer connect. You just need to add another GB, and you’ll be back up and running.
Republic Wireless does not automatically add another GB to your plan and bill you without warning. You are in complete control.
DOES THE SERVICE WORK INTERNATIONALLY?
Republic Wireless doesn’t offer cell service overseas. That means you will not be able to use your phone through cell phone providers.
However, if you have access to a WiFi network you can. The simple way to ensure you can send and receive calls and texts is to slide the phone into airplane mode, and you’ll be good to go.
