This time of year is rough on kids and on parents. Kids have all this energy, and they’re trapped inside because of the cold weather. Ideally, none of us wants them staring at a screen all day, but it can be such a pain in the hiney to get activities for them to do, and time consuming! I love finding crafts that have very little or no prep, are affordable, and will be something my kids can do for a long time. This Snowman Stick Puppet is the perfect craft for that!
The great this about this Snowman Stick Puppet is that he can be made over and over again in a variety of ways and designs. Kids can make little scarves or hats for him, can make them tiny or large, short or tall, thin or fat – they’re so much fun! Felt is very inexpensive and so are popsicle sticks! Meaning this project is not only fun, it’s cheap too!
You will need:
White felt
Popsicle sticks
Scissors
Markers
School glue
Begin making your Snowman Stick Puppet by cutting out three different sized circles. Make one largem one medium, and one small. Then, glue the largest circle to your popsicle stick. Next, glue the medium sized circle to the largest circle, and lastly glue the smallest circle for his head on top. Allow them to dry for 30 minutes. We just kept making them. Then by the time we were bored of making them, our first ones were dry and we could give them faces etc.
Use your markers to draw on a face and buttons for the snowmen. Cut scarves or hats out of the felt to mix and match with your snowmen. These don’t need to be glued on, unless you want them to be permanent. My daughter put on a little show for us with her Snowman Stick Puppets and it was so cute!
