Each spring, we celebrate Teacher Appreciation week. It is the time of the year we thank our educators for all they do to teach our children. Many work very long hours and often even purchase supplies so our kids can continue to learn. There are many different ideas you can try. We made this for a teacher who loves to garden one year – and she loved it!
We have a great list of Teacher Appreciation Gifts you can create to show your teachers that you are grateful for all they do for your kids. I loved all of those ideas and thought of this one on my own and wanted to share it with you.
One unique idea for a gift is this “Thank you for Planting the Seeds of Knowledge” basket. It is the perfect idea for any teacher who loves to get outside and garden (and it is not another gift card or pencil craft – which I know teachers will appreciate)!
Many times, you can find these items at your local Dollar Store or the dollar bins at Target. That makes this an affordable gift on any budget.
You can make the basket with any gardening items. For mine, I purchased a watering can, gloves, small hand rake, trowel and a packet of seeds. They have items in many different colors, so you can make a custom basket to even match your teacher’s personality!
MAKING A SEEDS OF KNOWLEDGE BASKET
SUPPLIES
Basket or Watering can
Seeds
Gardening Tools
Gloves
Tissue Paper
Curly Ribbon
INSTRUCTIONS
To start, tie curly ribbon onto the handles of the tools. It adds some whimsy and color to the basket. Put them into your basket or watering can face down (safety first).
Next, add your thank you tag. You can use the one blow, for free. Print and hole punch the corner, so you can attach it to the basket with ribbon. I used crafting scissors to make the edges decorative. Grab your tag HERE.
Place tissue paper and other items in the basket. My daughter signed her card and then we added it and were done!!
In less than 10 minutes, I had completely assembled the gift. It was so easy and very affordable! Make sure you check out your dollar bins and stores for some great items you can put together to make your own unique basket!!
