We are here to help you navigate the online deals so that you can find what you need. I’ve got my best tips for you right here!
How to Get the Best Black Friday Deals This Year
1. Stay up late (or get up really early)
Stores will be starting their deals at midnight (in various time zones), the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. If you want to get that super hot deal, you will want to be ready to go at that very moment!
Each year, we will update this post with the dates and times, however, these are the times in past years. Keep in mind that sometimes the deals do not kick off at the exact time anticipated (I’ve seen them start 45 – 60 min later than anticipated). So make sure you are patient!
(All deals start on Wednesday, November 22, 2018, at the time noted, unless otherwise indicated)
Kohl’s – starts November 19th at 12 am CST (1 am EST, 11 pm 11/19 MST, 10 pm 11/19 MST)
Sears – starts November 21stat 7 pm EST (6 pm CST, 5 pm MST, 4 pm PST)
Best Buy – starts at 12 am EST on November 21st (11 pm CST, 10 pm MST, 9 pm PST)
Office Depot/Office Max – starts at 12 am EST on November 21st (11 pm CST, 10 pm MST, 9 pm PST)
Walmart – starts at 3 am EST on November 21st (2 am CST, 1 am MST, 12 am PST)
Target – starts at 3 am EST on November 21st (2 am CST, 1 am MST, 12 am PST)
Amazon – starts November 19th — lightning and new deals start at 3 am EST (2 am CST, 1 am MST, 12 am PST) each day
2. Follow us on Facebook (group vs. page)
With the changes on Facebook, that means you may NOT actually even see our deals. We share what we can on the site and our Facebook Page, but alas, with the algorithm changes, you may not always see what you want to.
That is why you want to make sure you are a part of our Facebook Group. When you request to join, you will need to answer a few questions. This ensures everyone follows the rules.
Once your request to join has been approved, the next thing you will want to do is make sure you get alerts. When there is a limited time offer, I don’t put it anywhere by in the group. It would take too long to type a blog post about it. Plus, I’d rather get you directly to the product to buy than have to click through to my site and waste precious time.
How to Enable Notifications on Mobile
When you are in the group, click the down arrow beneath the page name, that brings up another menu. From here, click on Edit Notification Settings. You will want to turn on All Posts or Highlights. Keep in mind that if you select All, you will get a lot of notifications. So that is up to you whether you want to add this or not.
Edit Facebook Group Settings on Desktop
When you are in the group, click on the Notifications link at the bottom of the image. Edit as you need. Remember, when you say All, you will get a notification of any activity in the group.
The group can be a great resource and the perfect way to stay up to speed with the Black Friday sales and deals.
3. Log into your account early
If you are not logged in, you have to do that additional step as you checkout. That can sometimes make the difference between getting the item you want and it selling out.
When you get to the site where you plan to shop, go ahead and log into your account. Add your payment information as well. That way, the minute you see your deal, you can click to add it to your cart and get through checkout as quickly as possible.
4. Don’t browse the deals
If there is something you want, buy it instantly and then you can look for other items. The hot ticket deals (usually toys, TVs, tablets, video consoles) will sell out quickly. We are talking sometimes in less than 10 minutes. That means you need to be quick on the trigger.
Click, Buy and THEN shop for more things!
5. Use your laptop vs. device
Many times, the deals do not work as quickly on your mobile device as it may not be as quick to respond as your laptop or desktop. If you have a laptop or desktop you can use on Black Friday, you may do a bit better and be able to get the things you need and want even more quickly.
6. Do not add items to your cart before the price is posted
A big mistake Black Friday shoppers make is they add items to their cart ahead of time. They think that they can just check out and the price will drop.
That’s not how it works.
Anything in your cart already at the time there is a price change stays at the price it was when added. The only way to make sure you get the Black Friday pricing is to add it only after the deal is live on their website. Then you can head to checkout.
Black Friday can be a lot of fun and there are some fantastic deals. Make sure you are ready for them!
