Check out these fabulous Hanging Jar Lanterns! It seems everyone (including me) are all a craze with mason jar projects right now! Here is a fun DIY project perfect for creating home decor, decorating for an outdoor party or wedding.
SUPPLIES
Pint Size Mason Jars
26″ of 16-18 gauge wire (copper, brass or craft) — per jar
Wire cutters
Needle or round nose pliers
DIRECTIONS
The first thing you need to do is cut 2 pieces of copper wire, 13 inches each. Make a “P” shape on one end.
Take the wire and bend it to fit the shape of the jar. Start about half way around from where your hand is holding one side, bend and shape the wire to fit. When your wire reaches the other side (the half way point), bend the wire away from the jar. Cut the wire about 1/2″ from the bend. and form another “P” (see photos below to see how this looks).
Repeat this step to make a second wire. Hook two of the “P” ends on one side and wrap both wires around the edges of the jar and hook together on the other side. The two wires, once hooked together, will make a circle wrapped around the outside of the jar.
Next with the second piece of 13 inch copper wire. Create another “P” shape. Leave it slightly open and put it through the previously made lantern hanger loop. Close up the “P” shape and gently pull the copper wire upwards to create the size and shape of handle you would like.
Going through the opposite side loop created on the lantern hanger frame, create the last “P” shape. This will complete the lantern hanger.
Fill the jar with stones, leaves, tea lights, candles or whatever works with your theme. Hang on a tree branch, with clear wire or use as a centerpiece on a table.
