There is nothing more welcoming than a wreath on your front door. This cross wreath is easy to make and is a way to upcycle the twigs you collect in your yard.
Sometimes, the simplest designs are the prettiest. That’s the case with this cross wreath. It will take just a few minutes for you to make and will give your door a more welcoming look.

SUPPLIES
One long bundle of sticks ( I cut mine at about 24″)
One short bundle of sticks ( I cut mine at about 12″)
Pruning Sheers or Wire Cutters
String or Twine
Hot Glue Gun
DIRECTIONS
Collect the sticks for your wreath. This project works better with green twigs. So, trim some off of trees rather than gather those you find on the ground.
Group your sticks into two bundles. One will be longer and the other will be shorter (so you can have a cross rather than a plus). Bundle the sticks in the first group and trim them to the same length. Repeat this for the second group, trimming it shorter so that it will make the cross. (Lie them loosely on top of the first bundle to determine the right length).
One cut, hold them by the ends, so they are even. Wrap a piece of string or twine in the middle so that it is tightly secured. Do this for each bundle.
This is what each bundle should look like when you’ve finished wrapping them in the string. In this example, I used about 2′ of string.
Once both bundles are wrapped, place a bead of glue on the string on the longer bundle (helps help to hold the two pieces in place).
Press the string of the short sticks firmly against it. Hold it for about thirty seconds to ensure it has dried.
Next, take about four feet of string and find the middle of it. Hold the middle of it with your thumb against the string of the short sticks, and begin criss-cross wrapping them to secure the two bundles together until you just have short strings left.
Wrap the last of the strings to the back of the wreath and tie twice.
The final step will be to add a loop. Cut a piece of string around 6″ – 8″ long. Tie it onto the back of the cross by threading it through several strings and tying a knot. Your loop should be around 3″ long.
That’s it! Your cross wreath is finished!
