HOW TO SAVE MONEY ON TOILET PAPER
These simple tricks can help save money on toilet paper – no matter where you shop! Don’t rely only on the price on the tag, as that can be misleading, and you may not get end up getting the best deal.
Compare and Have a Backup Brand
Sometimes, we become brand loyal. However, the one we may love the most may not be on sale when we need it. Rather than pay regular price, have a backup brand. For example, our family likes Angel Soft. However, if Charmin happens to be on sale, I have no problem buying it instead. By using different brands, we can usually find the one we like on sale, ensuring we always get a good deal. Compare the prices on the brands you love and go with the one that is the lowest price.
Determine the Best TP Price
This is where you need to figure out how much you want to pay per square foot. For some, it is no more than $0.02 per square foot, and someone else might pay more. The average price of toilet paper tends to be around $.05. I like to try to pay $0.01 (and stock up heavily when it is that low), but those deals are few and far between, but I am happy at $0.02. You will need to do a little math. Pull up the calculator app on your phone to help you figure this out. The simple formula to use to figure the price of the toilet paper you want to buy is:
Price / Total Square Foot = price per square foot
Look at the image above. The total square feet of this package is 83.5. If it were on sale for $2.50, you would pay $0.015 per square foot. Divide $2.50/83.5 = $0.0299.
Shop On-Line
Sometimes, the best deals for toilet paper happen online rather than in the store. I have found some fantastic deals on Amazon, Walmart, and Staples, and I recommend you watch there as well. The best way to save on Amazon is to use one of their online coupons along with a discount. In addition, if you use Subscribe & Save or Amazon Pantry, you can see additional savings applied instantly to your purchase. When you need a deal on toilet paper, I recommend you start your search by reviewing the current coupons available. Navigate to the Amazon coupons page. You can search by brand, or you can just click on Household, and it will show only the coupons available for the products you may need. When you see the coupon you want, click on CLIP COUPON. That activates the savings, and you will see all of the products that the coupon applies to. From here, you can either click to go to the product to see more details, or just add it to your cart. I’d advise that you click to go to the product so you can save even more. When you open the item, you will often see a one-time price and a Subscribe & Save (S&S) price. You’ll notice that the S&S price is 5% less than the one-time purchase price. In this case, the price drops from $22.65 to $21.52. It also states that if you purchase 5 or more items with S&S during the month that your savings will increase to 15% off! P Place your order by selecting Subscribe Now. Set the reorder time for at least two months out. Once your order ships, log back into your account and suspend future shipments. That way, you won’t have to pay an amount that doesn’t work for your budget. And, if you forget to log in and do this right after it ships, you don’t have to worry. Amazon will send an email to you to let you know that your order will ship soon. You can log in and cancel it right there. One thing that is very important to know about Amazon is that prices change. And they change quickly. Therefore, always double (and even triple) check the prices before you order so you know exactly how much you will pay. Check the Warehouse
Warehouse shopping at Costco and Sam’s Club often offer bulk discounts, which can be beneficial for buying products that you regularly use, such as toilet paper. However, it’s important to keep in mind that these stores require a membership fee to shop there. So, if you are not already a member, you’ll need to factor that cost into your decision.
Additionally, while warehouse shopping stores can offer good deals on products, you’ll need to consider whether buying in bulk is practical for your household. If you have limited storage space, buying large quantities of toilet paper may not be feasible.
Combine Coupons + Sales
One of the simplest ways to save money on toilet paper is to combine your coupon with the current sale. There are multiple ways to find the coupons you need:
- Visit Coupons.com, RedPlum or even SmartSource to see if there are coupons you can use
- Watch your Sunday newspaper for coupons
- Click over to the manufacturer’s website to see if they have any current coupons
Smart shoppers always buy when items are not only on sale, but also put those coupons to work to save even more.
Stock Up When You Can
When you find a great deal on your favorite brand of toilet paper, don’t purchase just one package. Instead, get 2 or 3 of them and create a small stockpile. That way, you’ll have gotten the product you want at the lowest price. That will (hopefully) carry you through until it is on sale the next time. The simple way to do this is to create a price book, so you can track your store’s sales cycles. This also helps you determine the lowest price you’ll find for your toilet paper as well. Now that you know how to save money on toilet paper, you’ll never get stuck paying more than you need to ever again!
